Finnish Musicians’ Union, SOA and UTHA provide free support for music performers for mental well-being. The service will be launched during May 2022.

There are two different services available:

1) Head to the surface – individual support for a stressful situation

Head to the surface service is aimed at music performers working as freelancers and outside of occupational health services who need support and structuring assistance to manage workloads and strengthen resources.

The service includes five individual appointments and a follow-up visit, and is provided by a psychologist or psychotherapist specializing in clinical psychology in the field of art.

This service is for you if you want to cope better with the current challenges and need support to manage workloads.

The service will launch during May 2022 and will be available to ten people. Participants will be selected based on the order of registration and the needs assessment. The service is provided in both live and remote form.

2) Mirroring the overall situation – mapping to support mental well-being

Mirroring of the overall situation service provides support for strengthening the well-being of the music performer (at work) and for perceiving the overall situation. At the heart of the service are increasing self-awareness, strengthening resilience and deliberating professional identity.

The service includes a mental health survey conducted by a psychologist or psychotherapist specializing in clinical psychology in the field of art. The survey provides tools for developing and maintaining your well-being at work in short and long term.

The service will launch during May 2022 and will be available to ten people. Participants will be selected based on the order of registration and the needs assessment. The service is provided in both live and remote form.

In addition to the individual services to be implemented during the spring, the project will offer group-based services in the autumn of 2022, such as teamwork guidance and creative performance coaching. These services will be communicated in more detail at the beginning of autumn 2022.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health’s TYÖ2030 – Work and Well-Being Development Program.
