Artis Residences
The Musicians’ Union has artist residencies in London and Villa Vikan in Raasepori. The residencies are furnished for artistic work and also provide an excellent opportunity for inspiration and relaxation. The rental rates for the Union’s residencies are competitive compared to general market levels.
Benefits and services
As a member of the Finnish Musicians’ Union, you are entitled to a wide range of benefits and services designed to make your working life and daily life easier, so you can focus on what matters most. The range of benefits and services includes, for example, rehearsal spaces at affordable rental rates, travel and accommodation benefits, discounts on work equipment from various service providers, as well as services that support physical activity and wellbeing.
Collective Agreements
The Finnish Musicians’ Union has 25 collective agreements across different sectors of music production. The Union negotiates up-to-date wages and benefits in these agreements, taking its members’ views into account.
Insurances
The membership fee include a wide range of insurances:
- Leisure Accident and Travel Insurance
- Instrument Insurance up to €3000
- Musicians’ Sick Fund

Legal Services and Support for Work Situations
You can contact the Union lawyers for expert advice on legislation, agreements, taxation and entrepreneur issues. Members of the Finnish Musicians’ Union are also entitled to apply for legal aid paid by the Union.
The members have access to shop stewards who manage issues related to collective agreements, problems at individual workplaces and nationwide matters. Freelancers can contact the Finnish Musicians’ Union’s Shop Steward and Freelance Specialist.
Who can join as a member?
All music performers and music students are eligible to join the Finnish Musicians’ Union. Our members range from singers and instrumentalists to professional DJs and ballet dancers. Just under one third of the union’s members are orchestral musicians, while the rest work as freelancers or entrepreneurs across different sectors of the music industry.
The Musicians’ Union consists of 22 local branches, and each member belongs to one of them.
How do I redeem the campaign benefit?
- To join the union, your friend must fill in the membership application form. At the end of the form, in the “Additional information” section, your friend should include the name of the person who referred them.
- Once the membership has been confirmed, you will both receive the next full month of membership free of charge.
- To qualify for the benefit, the referring member’s own membership and fees must be up to date.
- The benefit is intended for new members and does not apply to individuals who have been members of the Musicians’ Union within the past 12 months.
