Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK)
The Musicians’ Union is affiliated to SAK. The union belongs to SAK’s Service Industries Advisory Board. SAK and the Musicians’ Union are both members of the Advisory Board of Unions in the Field of Culture. Other members include the Union of Journalists in Finland, the Union of Finnish Actors and the Union for Theatre and Media Finland.
Gramex
The Musicians’ Union is one of the three members of the Gramex Copyright Society. Performing artists and phonogram producers are in a customer relationship with Gramex.
Finnish Music Foundation (MES)
The purpose of the Finnish Music Foundation (MES) is to promote and support Finnish music in its diverse forms. The Musicians’ Union has a major representation on the Board of MES and its committees.
Music Finland
Music Finland promotes the vitality and internationalisation of Finnish music. The Musicians’ Union is a member of Music Finland.
Lyhty
Lyhty, a consortium of creators and entrepreneurs in the creative field, was established to promote operating conditions in the creative field. The Musicians’ Union is a member organisation of Lyhty.
Finka Unemployment Fund
Members of the Musicians’ Union can also belong to the Finka Unemployment Fund. Finka is the only unemployment fund specialising in the provision of unemployment security to creative workers in Finland.
Musicians’ Sick Fund
The Musicians’ Sick Fund is intended for members of the local branches of the Musicians’ Union aged 16 to 67. The Sick Fund is not intended for members in the ‘T’ fee category.
Kopiosto
The Kopiosto Copyright Society oversees the rights of its members with regard to photocopying as well as retransmission of radio and television programmes. The Musicians’ Union is a member of Kopiosto.
Finnish Music Council
The Finnish Music Council acts as the common voice of the music industry and aims to promote music rights. The Musicians’ Union is a member of the Finnish Music Council.
Forum Artis
Forum Artis, a co-operation organ for Finnish artists’ associations, is an umbrella organisation for major Finnish trade unions for artists. The Musicians’ Union is a member of Forum Artis.
Music Archive Finland
The Musicians’ Union is an eternal member of the members’ association which manages the Music Archive.
Vilho and Lahja Koponen Foundation
The Musicians’ Union established the Vilho and Lahja Koponen Foundation when it received a bequest under a will. The Board of the Union appoints the Chairperson and Members of the Board.
Sibelius Society of Finland
The Musicians’ Union is a member of the Sibelius Society of Finland which carries out major projects related to Jean Sibelius.
Savonlinna Opera Festival Patrons’ Association
The Musicians’ Union is a member of the Savonlinna Opera Festival Patrons’ Association.
Trade Union Solidarity Centre of Finland (SASK)
The Musicians’ Union is a member of SASK.
International organisations
International Federation of Musicians (FIM)
The International Federation of Musicians (FIM) is an international consortium of musicians’ unions whose secretariat operates in Paris. The Finnish Musicians’ Union is a member of FIM.
Nordisk Musiker Union (NMU)
Nordisk Musiker Union is an umbrella organisation for Nordic musicians’ unions. The Finnish Musicians’ Union is a member of NMU.
International Artist Organisation (IAO)
The International Artist Organisation (IAO) is a spokesperson for artists. The Musicians’ Union is a member of IAO.
Association of European Performers’ Organizations (AEPO)
AEPO is a consortium of organisations managing the copyrights of European performing artists, and Gramex is its member. The Musicians’ Union’s relationship with AEPO is based on its membership in Gramex.
