Mijas residence rental guide

1.1 Arrival

Residence’s address is:
Casa Antigua, URB. Huerta Alta Arriba 2 F 1, 29650 Malaga, Mijas Pueblo.

Arrival is at the earliest on Monday at 4 pm. The weekly cleaning of the residence is on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you arrive earlier, you can drop off your luggage at the residence. You are welcome to stay in the outdoor area of the residence, but please give the cleaner work peace.

Entering Ático:

Past the main gate of Casa Antigua (address Urb. Huerta Alta 2 F, 1), up the road about 50 meters – the upper car park is on the left, then along the path to the door ‘Attico’. The key is in the coded key box. The code will be communicated to you by the union before your trip.

Entering Salon: 

Enter through the main gate of Casa Antigua, the coded key box is at the side of the gate on the inside (but easily accessible from the outside). From the parking lot to the Salon gate is approximately 50 meters. Take the gentle stairs up and you will arrive at the main Salon entrance. There is a coded key box next to the door.

Entering Cueva:

Entrance through the main gate of Casa Antigua (address Urb. Huerta Alta 2 F, 1), the coded key locker is at the gate’s junction on the inside (but easily accessible from the outside as it is a barred gate). The code will be communicated to you by the association before your trip. From the parking lot to the house about 50 meters, where there is a sign ‘Casa Rubinstain’. Follow the path to the Cueva door (about 20 metres) where there is again a key box in the doorway. The code will be communicated to you by the union before your trip.

1.2 Arrival from airport

From the airport, you can also take the Renfe train to Fuengirola station at a low cost, from where you can take a bus to Mijas. From the bus stop it is about a 500 m walk to the residence. You can also take a taxi from the airport.

A taxi ride costs around €35-45 from the airport to the residence.

1.3 Parking spaces at the residency

There are two parking spaces at the Mijas residence:

The first parking lot is located 50 meters to the left when turning off the A-368 Urb. Huerta Alta Arriba 2F. This parking lot is intended primarily for residents of Salon and Cueva. It is fenced and has a capacity of approximately 3-4 cars. The gate can be opened by pressing the button on the box. The gate closes automatically after one minute.

The button is located on the inside of the gate, but can also be pressed from the outside. The button must be pressed gently and only once. If the gate does not open after five seconds, press the button again.

The second parking lot is located 100 metres to the left of the main road. This is intended primarily for Ático residents. The parking lot has a capacity of about four cars.

1.4 Departure

Departure is at latest on Monday at 11 am. Please clean up after yourself before you leave – wash dishes, take out the rubbish and leave everything else tidy.

1.5 Keys

The gate and entrances have coded key boxes that belong to the doors in question. The codes will be provided by the Union office. Always keep the key in the key box (do not take it inside) – there are other keys inside.

In Spain, doors are always locked from the inside with a key. Do not give the key or the key box code to anyone outside.

1.6 Contact details

Any damage to the apartment or its furnishings must be reported immediately to the residence contact person Ville Manninen: +358 401 750 983. If the apartment is missing anything that should be there when you arrive, please inform the contact person immediately.

If there are any general deficiencies in the equipment or condition of the apartment that you think should be corrected, please also inform the contact person.

2.1 Instruments

There is a Roland FP-10 electric piano and a Martin acoustic guitar. There’s also a cello and a double bass for tenants’ use. Tenants can ask to borrow the instruments from the owners.

Please take the others into account when working and playing in the residence. Please also use headphones in the evenings.

3.1 Bathrooms

As hot water is limited, please prefer short showers to make sure there is enough water for everyone else.

There are also hairdryers in the bathrooms.

3.2 Kitchen and cutlery

The apartments are equipped with basic kitchenware, cooking and dining utensils, and dishwashers and washing machines.

Cueva’s dishwasher is on the terrace. Wash your dishes before you leave and put them away.

The water from the tap comes from a mountain spring and is drinkable.

Please do not leave any perishable food in the fridge or freezer when you leave. Unopened products that keep well can be left behind.

3.3 Pool area

The pool area is free to use until 11 pm.

The pool is emptied for the winter. The timing depends on the weather.

3.4 Air conditioning

There are two air-source heat pumps in Ático and one in Cueva. Salon has three heat pumps: one in each bedroom and one in the dining room. Air-source heat pumps are equipped with a mode for cooling.

3.5 Drinking water

The water from the tap in the residency is drinkable. The water comes from its own spring.

4.1 Cleaning

4.2 Towels and sheets

The residence has bed linen for everyone and one large and one small towel.

When you leave, put the sheets and towels in a pile on the floor and take them to the laundry.

4.3 Waste, rubbish and empty bottles

Sort your rubbish as follows:

  • General waste
  • Cans and plastics go together
  • Paper and cardboard go together
  • Glasses

Take your rubbish to the bins on the street.

5.1 Transportation

The bus to Fuengirola leaves from the petrol station (about 400 metres) and buses to Benalmadena, Torremolinos and Malaga leave from in front of the residence.

The village of Mijas is a 10-minute walk away, with plenty of restaurants and attractions to keep you busy throughout your stay.

5.2 Pets

Pets are not allowed in the residence. There are cats in the area – do not feed them or let them inside.

5.3 Grocery stores

Mijas village has a small market hall and two grocery stores, Dia and Eroski. There is also a petrol station for groceries.

5.4 Smoking

Smoking in the residence is strictly prohibited.

5.5 Rental bikes

Cycling is an excellent way to move around the area.

The store’s wide selection covers mountain-, racing-, touring- and electric bicycles and different vehicles for disabled people. The rented bikes are brought straight to the residence – the company is well familiar with the residence. The equipment, such as helmets, tools and pump, are included in the rental fee. You can also ask for side bags if you need them for the bikes.
